A franchise owner is scouting Tuscaloosa for the perfect spot to build the city's first 7 Brew Coffee drive-thru, a marketing rep confirmed to the Thread this week.

The brand was born in Rogers, Arkansas and has spread to more than 200 locations across the United States.

Former Northport city council president Jeff Hogg once told constituents 7 Brew would open a stand on that side of the Black Warrior River, but the deal never came to fruition - Hogg blamed opponents of an unrelated development that also never materialized for allegedly scaring them away from the city.

10 brand locations are operated by Southern Brew, the 7 Brew franchise owner and operator in North and Central Alabama, East Tennessee, and West Georgia, and last month, they applied for and were granted a business license in the city of Tuscaloosa.

A brand spokesperson told the Thread they do not yet have a location for a 7 Brew "stand" in the Druid City yet, but said opening here is a high priority and once a suitable spot is identified and bought or leased, things will move fast.

She said a 7 Brew stand takes between four to six weeks to build out and the brand could be up and running in Tuscaloosa soon after the dust settled.

The marketing representative said since Southern Brew operates all over North and Central Alabama, their leadership is weighing locations all over the state except in southern cities such as Mobile but that Tuscaloosa holds their most intense focus today.
