One person was shot in the leg in Northport Monday afternoon during what police believe was a robbery.

Keith Carpenter, the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department, said officers were called to the scene of a shooting around 12:45 p.m. Monday, where a victim had been shot once in the leg.T

The victim was transported to the hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Carpenter said the shooting took place in the 200 block of 30th Avenue, off 5th Street heading toward Oliver Lock and Dam.

Carpenter said Northport Police are also on the scene near the Northport Farmer's Market on 5th Street, where they are looking over a vehicle that may have been involved in the alleged robbery.

Carpenter said no suspects are in custody yet and did not have a description of possible suspects.
