The southbound lanes of Interstate 20/59 are closed in Greene County Tuesday after a pre-dawn accident overturned a commercial vehicle, state Troopers confirmed.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said the wreck took place a few minutes after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

King said the accident overturned a commercial vehicle and blocked the southbound lanes of the Interstate near Mile Marker 44 in Greene County.

King told area media outlets at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday that the southbound lanes of the interstate are now closed and will be for an undetermined amount of time.

He said the Alabama Department of Transportation is on scene assisting with traffic control and Troopers are working the scene to investigate the accident and aid with traffic.
