A security guard at a hookah lounge in southern Tuscaloosa has been charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed an unarmed man there early Sunday morning.

As the Thread first reported, Tuscaloosa Police and the Violent Crimes Unit were called to the new CRU Lounge in Patriot Plaza on Highway 69 South around 1 a.m. Sunday on reports of a shooting.

One man had been shot and did not survive his injuries. Jack Kennedy, the commander of the VCU, said the victim is Rashid Little, age 28.

The VCU has been working the case since the shooting, and after interviewing witnesses and reviewing security footage they determined the shooter was 35-year-old Arron Dewayne Hill, a bouncer at CRU Lounge.

Kennedy said Hill fled the scene after the shooting but was located this morning with a woman who had been with him at the time of the shooting.

"After interviewing them, they were both arrested," Kennedy said.

Hill was charged with one count of murder.  The woman, Thyais Walker, was charged with illegally possessing a pistol because she is reportedly a felon.

Both were committed to jail with no bond, Kennedy said, and more charges are possible. Stay connected to the Thread for more updates as they become available.
