Heads up, temperatures will be dropping for portions of Central, East Central, Southeast, and West Central Alabama. There are many counties in our coverage area that are affected. According to the National Weather Service Birmingham, “temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s, especially in the valley areas. Make sure to protect your plants and bring in outdoor pets.”
There is a Freeze Warning starting at Midnight that goes until 8 am Wednesday, November 18, 2020. It includes Chambers, Clay, Coosa, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Randolph, Shelby, Talladega, and Tallapoosa.
There is a Frost Advisory starting at Midnight that goes until 8 am Wednesday, November 18, 2020. It includes Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Chilton, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Russell, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa.
National Weather Service Birmingham encourages you to “TAKE STEPS NOW TO PROTECT TENDER PLANTS FROM THE COLD. TO PREVENT FREEZING AND POSSIBLE BURSTING OF OUTDOOR WATER PIPES THEY SHOULD BE WRAPPED, DRAINED, OR ALLOWED TO DRIP SLOWLY. THOSE THAT HAVE IN-GROUND SPRINKLER SYSTEMS SHOULD DRAIN THEM AND COVER ABOVE GROUND PIPES TO PROTECT THEM FROM FREEZING.”
