With Mac Jones moving on to the NFL, a QB on the Alabama Football roster will have to take over the reins of the offense.

Three current QB's on the roster Bryce Young, Paul Tyson, and Jalen Milroe will likely be the ones battling it out for first string.

Young is the presumed favorite of the bunch, but are we putting too much pressure on the Cali kid?

According to DraftKings, Bryce Young has the second best odds in 2021 to win the Heisman Trophy at +400.

Which makes no sense considering the abundance of players beneath him that are actually proven.

In 2020 Young went 13-22 for 156 yards and a touchdown in nine games of action, which is nothing to write home about.

The sample size is incredibly small and with Mac Jones tearing up opposing defenses, Young only saw time late in the fourth quarter.

In comparison, true freshman Clemson QB D.J. Uiagalelei listed third on the Heisman odds list, stepped in for Trevor Lawrence in two games against Boston College and Notre Dame tossing four touchdowns and 781 yards.

One skill set that sets Young aside from most college QB's is his dual threat ability, which he spoke about it in an interview with USA Today.

“People in the league, the Lamar Jacksons, Kyler Murrays, the Baker Mayfields, people like that are really pushing the envelope of what dual-threat means,” Young said.

Ever since fellow five-star dual threat QB's Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts stepped up in their early time at Alabama, the pressure has been on for young players to make an immediate impact when they step on the field.

Because of COVD-19 cancelling spring practice, Young's development was hindered and he had a steep learning curve.

Another thing that worries me is the size of Young. Listed at 6'0 197lbs, he may have a tough time taking hits from SEC players throughout the course of a full season.

Tagovailoa had similar measurements and he struggled to stay healthy in three years, so how can we be sure Young will not to have similar problems?

I'm not saying that Young won't have success here in Tuscaloosa, I'm just advising fans to be patient and not rush his development.
