It's back-to-school season in West Alabama and Stillman College is doing its part to help the community stay safe this upcoming school year.

Many may feel like we're out of the woods when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the CDC data tracker, nationwide COVID-19 cases are just over 90,000,000.

That would disprove any speculation that we are completely out of the woods.

Another potential pandemic is already on the rise in the United States.

Have you heard about the Monkey Pox?

This virus has already caused panic and President Joe Biden has declared the Monkey Pox outbreak a public health emergency.

According to the CDC, Monkeypox can spread to anyone through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact, including:

  • Direct contact with monkeypox rash, scabs, or body fluids from a person with monkeypox.
  • Touching objects, fabrics (clothing, bedding, or towels), and surfaces that have been used by someone with monkeypox.
  • Contact with respiratory secretions

Now more than ever, staying sanitized is a major concern especially when it comes to going back to school.

"Right now we're giving out hand sanitizer and sanitizer wipes to college students, local businesses, and police departments, churches, community agencies, and anyone who is in need of wipes and hand sanitizer."

The wipes and sanitizer will be available until 5:30p Wednesday or until supplies run out.

"Our President Dr. Cynthia Warrick, she's very adamant about opening the campus to the community. There's one thing we want to do, that's have the community come to campus and take advantage of this donation opportunity."

The supplies are being given out near the stadium on Stillman's campus.
