The recent announcement of alcohol possibly not being sold at Coleman Coliseum has brought about multiple responses to the ruling.

Greg Byrne's statement provoked many to give their opinion:

Some initial statements were not in favor of the stoppage:

Many also took to social media to tag Walt Maddox:

Others however, supported the blocking of sales of alcohol.

UA President Stuart Bell also responded to the city and the University disagreeing on the matter.

Bell said in statement:

"The University was surprised by the City’s arbitrary service fee. Therefore, the planned new sales at our UA venues will remain on hold as we review the impact this fee could have on our University, Athletics, and fans."

Walt Maddox, the mayor of Tuscaloosa also responded, saying the issue isn't Coleman, but instead Bryant-Denny is the heart of the issue.

Maddox "During the course of the [alcohol license] application for Coleman, it was disclosed that they were going to be doing the same for Bryant-Denny Stadium and certainly that's a whole 'nother dynamic when you basically put an entire city within three square blocks."

The planned sales of alcohol was approved during the February 1st meeting of the Tuscaloosa City Council. Following the approval, another vote was held that determined added fees would be placed on ticket sales for events with alcohol.

The fees would be $1 added for events holding 1,000-20,000 attendees, $2 added for 20,000-50,000 attendees, and $3 added for over 50,000 attendees.

Byrne then issued a statement on the matter Monday.

The SEC first permitted the sales of alcohol in 2019, allowing each University to decide whether or not to sell alcoholic beverages at events.

More updates on the matter will be provided when they are available.
