Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter (TMAS) will be hosting a "Meet Your Match" event Saturday, Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For this event, all adoption fees will be waived.

Becki Pate, the TMAS event coordinator, said that the event name was a "play on dating apps." The shelter hopes to "make some love matches."

Pate said she only remembers the shelter waiving all adoption fees twice during the course of her four-year employment.

"We've done reduced adoption fees, but waiving them all together, this is the second time," said Pate.

Only pets in the shelter will be available for waived fees. Animals in foster care or early-bird holds are ineligible.

Early-bird hold allows someone to reserve a stray animal before they come up for adoption. The shelter gives the owner seven days to claim the lost animals before they're added to the adoptable list.

Currently, there are 54 dogs and cats available for adoption. As usual, the shelter will spay and neuter all adopted animals in addition to microchipping and paying for the first vet exam.

As an extra incentive, all adopters on Saturday will receive a goody bag courtesy of the shelter.
