The post stated officers closed both University Boulevard and McFarland Boulevard to traffic and began talking with the man to convince him to come back over.

Two officers took the lead, gaining his trust and eventually convinced the man to cross back over the guard rail.

TPD commended the officers' extensive training with the Crisis Intervention Team as well as FBI Negotiation Training.

"They were faced with a difficult and tense situation. We’re proud they used their training and skill to save a life and get this man the help he needed," the post stated.
