5 Places In Tuscaloosa To Entertain Out-Of-Towners During The Holidays
Everyone is saying, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! This means it is full-on, holiday time which means you will be entertaining guests from out of town here in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. My best advice to save your sanity is to plan ahead on different outings to keep your family entertained. Here are my top five picks:
#1 – The Paul W. Bryant Museum – No trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is complete without a visit to the campus of the University of Alabama. It is a gorgeous campus. On the way to the Paul W. Bryant Museum, be sure to take your out-of-towners by Bryant Denny Stadium so they can take pictures. At the museum, you can experience “state-of-the-art displays enhanced by videos highlighting great players, plays, and games,” read more about it, here.
#2 – Tuscaloosa Riverwalk – take your guests on a visit to one of my favorite places in Tuscaloosa, it’s beautiful, views of the Black Warrior River, it’s paved, and well lighted. The Riverwalk is about 4.5 miles starting at Capital Park and ends at Manderson Landing. It’s a great place to take family pictures, bring your lunch and enjoy the benches, or gazebos. #3 - Mercedes-Benz US International Visitor Center Museum – I have taken the plant tour and spent time at the visitor center too. It was so much fun. The museum is loaded with so much fascinating history and is worth the short drive to Vance, Alabama. However, according to their website, plant tours have been temporarily halted. Still, the visitor center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, and closed Saturday, Sunday, and all major holidays. Read more about it, here.
#4 - Children’s Hands-On Museum of Tuscaloosa – If you have children that are coming to visit for the holidays, the Children’s Hands-On Museum of Tuscaloosa is a MUST! This is where “children Explore, Create, and Discover every time they visit.” They have lots of exhibits and three floors of fun. I have enjoyed taking my cousins for a visit as they are encouraged to touch, feel, and play! Read more about it, here.
#5 - Nick’s Original Filet House b.k.a. Nicks In The Sticks - If you want to impress your family, take them to Nicks in The Sticks because they will not be disappointed. Everything is amazing. Be sure to get the incredible Nicodemus! Whatever you do, get there early because it is a first-come, first-served situation. Read more about it, here.
