Could Alabama Break Some More Temperature Records?
Not Too Long Ago We Had Record-Breaking Low Temperatures
Around the middle of October, we experienced some below-average temperatures. On October 18, 2022, Tuscaloosa’s 56-degree temperature broke the old record low maximum temperature for October 18th which was 58 degrees in 1966,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
Also, breaking low-temperature records happened in Birmingham as well, hitting 54 degrees, breaking a 1955 record of 55 degrees. Plus Montgomery was at 58 degrees breaking a 60-degree record from 2009.
Get ready for, what my mother would call “getting sick” weather.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, "we will be very close to a new record high Monday as temperatures rise into the low 80s. Much cooler air arrives over the latter half of the week, and by the following weekend, (November 12-13) highs drop into the 50s, and lows well down in the 30s. For now, most of the week looks dry.”
Below Normal Temperatures Guide
The National Weather Service predicts that from November 11 to 15 Alabama will likely have “below normal temperatures.”
Alabama Coast and the southeast sector: 50-60% below normal
The Majority of Alabama - 60 – 70% below normal
Northwest corner of Alabama - 70- 80% likely below normal
