Greensboro Man Suspected in Theft from Tuscaloosa Gun Stores
The Tuscaloosa Police Department, ATF Agents and law enforcement officers in Hale County arrested a 28-year-old Greensboro Man Saturday in connection with the theft of dozens of firearms from two Tuscaloosa gun stores.
Captain Brad Mason, a TPD spokesperson, said on Facebook that sheriff's deputies in Hale County contacted TPD Saturday to report that they have recovered a firearm that had been stolen from Plus One Tactical in Cottondale.
TPD Investigators and ATF agents drove to Hale County, and with the help of deputies there and officers with the Greensboro Police Department, they searched a residence there in Greensboro.
They discovered multiple firearms that had been stolen from Plus One Tactical, as well as guns stolen from Woods & Water here in Tuscaloosa.
Scott Hamilton, 38, was arrested and charged with those burglaries as well as for an additional theft that occurred at Skyland Auto Sales.
He was brought back to the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he is currently being held on three charges of burglary with a combined bond of $45,000, but Mason said more charges are pending from other jurisdictions.
"The Tuscaloosa Police Department would like to thank the Hale County Sheriff’s Office, the Greensboro Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for their extensive help in this case," Mason said.
