Severe Weather Targets Central, West Alabama Again Next Week

It appears that week after week Alabama has been hit with some sort of severe weather threat. The Weather Channel said, “to say it's been a hyperactive stretch for severe weather by early spring standards is an understatement.”

We are closely monitoring this potential for severe weather in our areas on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, and Wednesday, April 6, 2022. This is a developing weather scenario

and information could be adjusted as we get closer to the actual weather event. The storm setup starts on Monday in southeast Texas and rolls into western Louisiana.

Current Outlook on Tuesday

ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist James Spann mentioned that “rain and thunderstorms return to the state Tuesday, and SPC has most of Alabama in a severe weather risk in their "Day 4" outlook. Model data continues to suggest there will be sufficient instability and dynamic support for strong to severe thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening hours, generally between 1 and 8 p.m.” As of right now, there is a concern for the following severe weather threats on Tuesday.

Current Outlook on Wednesday

A substantial cold front is projected to enter the Southeast which could fire up some severe thunderstorms. Spann said that “models show a very unstable airmass developing before the front arrives, and despite the drier airmass it looks like a line of storms will develop along the front.”
