Vestavia Hills Police Department released information regarding the third shooting victim from St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

The Vestavia Hills Police Department said Thursday evening at approximately 6:22 pm it was dispatched to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church located at 3775 Crosshaven drive in Vestavia Hills. The reason for the call was an active shooter.

According to the Vestavia Hills Police Department, the church was hosting a small group meeting referred to as "Boomers Potluck" dinner.

At some point during the evening, a white male in his 70s produced a concealed handgun and began shooting, striking three victims.

According to AL.com, that man is 70-year-old, Robert Findlay Smith.

The Vestavia Hills Police Department says that two of the three victims passed away Thursday evening and today released information saying that the third shooting victim from St. Stephen's Episcopal Church has also passed away.

In a Facebook post, Vestavia Hills Police Department said that the third victim's family asked not to release a name for reasons of privacy. According to the Vestavia Hills Police Department, the suspect acted alone and there was no threat to the community.

Friday evening, the Vestavia Hills Police Department was said to be executing a search warrant related to the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church shooting. The search involved a road closure.
