On a night featuring running clocks and shortened quarters, there were indeed some blowouts but also some nail biters in West Alabama high school football. Here’s a look at the scoreboard:
In the blowout department, Northridge demolished Central 55-0 and Pickens County did the same to Holy Spirit 60-0. Hillcrest emptied the bench against Bessemer City in a 47-16 win in which quarterback Ethan Crawford threw three touchdown passes and exited before halftime.
Sipsey Valley dropped Holt 37-6 behind sophomore quarterback LJ Cormier.
In eight-man football, Tuscaloosa Christian downed Success Unlimited 38-8 and North River Christian lost a road game to Southern Prep 34-12.
Demopolis took down Jemison 68-22 and Winfield shut down Carbon Hill 62-0.
Tuscaloosa Academy and quarterback Preston Lancaster dropped Winston County 34-8 while Paul Bryant got its first win of the season by holding off Brookwood 23-18.
The Northside Rams edged Cordova 20-19 in a big region win.
Bibb County continued to roll as the Choctaws hung a 46-0 goose egg on Montevallo while Aliceville crushed Cold Springs 52-8.
In Thursday night action Gordo behind quarterback Brax Garrison’s three rushing touchdowns beat previously unbeaten Fayette County 35-0 while Southside Selma won at Greensboro 52-30.
In Birmingham scores of note Thompson crushed Oak Mountain 51-0 and Hewitt-Trussville held off Vestavia Hills 45-37.
