A woman was hit by a car and killed while crossing McFarland Boulevard just after midnight Thursday morning, according to the Tuscaloosa News.

Tuscaloosa Police spokeswoman Lt. Teena Richardson told the News' Stephanie Taylor that a man driving south on McFarland Boulevard near 13th Street hit the woman around 12:30 a.m.

“The driver was unable to avoid making contact with the pedestrian, striking her,” Richardson told Taylor. “When officers arrived, they found the victim laying on the side of the roadway deceased.”

Police are investigating the case and have not released the victim's identity pending notification of her family.
