Brookwood

Brookwood, located in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, is a perfect rural town. Incorporated in September 1977, Brookwood has a population of 2,029 – an ideally quiet, yet friendly place.

Its history is rich with a robust economic background, as the town was originally a mining settlement. Starting in 1880, Brookwood has been home to mining communities. In 1920, there was a strike that killed many miners.

Close to Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Brookwood is in the middle of it all, without the hectic city life. This rustic community provides many outdoor activities. Just 10 miles away from the Black Warrior River, there are opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming, and more to combat the hot and humid summers.

Brookwood has a large public park with many amenities. There is a sizable park next to the town hall, that every age can enjoy. For sports lovers, one can enjoy one of six baseball and softball fields, as well as tennis and volleyball courts. Two playgrounds are available, each having different obstacles for certain ages. Pavilions are available to rent for any gathering needs.

Brookwood has three schools: Brookwood High, Brookwood Middle, and Brookwood Elementary School, all of which are located in the Tuscaloosa County public school system.

The people from Brookwood are friendly, patriotic, and immersed in all things sports, loving their local football team. Being close to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, football will also be incorporated into the life of Brookwood natives. Having a tight-knit community, there is also an event to enjoy.
